Did you know you need to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) every academic year you attend Rutgers to be considered for financial aid?
The 2018-2019 FASFA is now available at fasfa.ed.gov. Be sure to have both you and your parent(s) information on hand to make the process easier.
Here are some other steps you can take to make filing the FAFSA and getting financial aid even easier:
- Use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) to make filing the FASFA a breeze and to speed up the process of receiving your aid. The IRS DRT transfers all of your information directly to the FASFA, saving you time and preventing errors that could delay processing.
- If you are a resident of New Jersey, you will be prompted to complete additional questions at the end of the FAFSA. Complete these questions to stay eligible for state aid like the Tuition Aid Grant (TAG).
- In addition to using the DRT and answering any additional questions, submit any additional documents as soon as they are requested. You will receive an email with instructions on how to do so if needed.
Review the Rutgers priority FAFSA filing deadlines and all state deadlines – the earlier you file, the better!
