Applying for Financial Aid
The first step in applying for financial aid is to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The 2018-2019 FAFSA is available on October 1, 2017 at fafsa.ed.gov.
Be sure to enter Rutgers Federal School Code (002629) on the FAFSA so your information is sent to the Rutgers Office of Financial Aid.
Priority Filing Deadline
The FAFSA priority filing deadline for incoming students is December 1, 2017. Filing the FAFSA before this date ensures that you are considered for all available funding at Rutgers.
Submitting Verification Documents
Rutgers may need to verify some of the information you input on the FAFSA. If you need to submit additional documents, you will receive an email notification. Award Letters cannot be finalized until all requested documents are submitted and reviewed.
Award Letter Notifications
Once your financial aid is packaged, you will receive an email with a link to your Award Letter. Award Letters will be available February 2018 for any incoming student who files the FAFSA before the priority filing deadline. Look for an email in February or visit this page to access your Award Letter.

What is FERPA?
The Office of Financial Aid cannot share student account information with parents or guardians without written consent from the student (in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, also known as FERPA).
The student needs to sign a FERPA form before we can share any information.
