The 2024-2025 FAFSA is available!
If you plan on
attending Rutgers
during the 2024-2025
academic year,
complete the FAFSA by March 15, 2024 to
apply for financial aid.
Apply for Aid
Students who are members of the National Guard may be eligible for in-state tuition charges and a tuition waiver. Students who are found ineligible for financial aid due to default on a financial aid loan will be ineligible for participation in the tuition waiver program.
In order to be considered, the student must be enrolled in a degree program and must be making satisfactory academic progress to continue to receive the benefit.
Students who are required to take prerequisite courses must provide a statement from their academic dean indicating a clear path to matriculation within two terms.
National Guard members must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
National Guard Tuition Remission is awarded such that the combination of Pell, TAG, institutional gift aid and National Guard equals tuition. The National Guard tuition waiver is for tuition only. The program does not cover fees. Students are expected to pay their fees and other non-tuition charges through student loans or personal resources.
If the National Guard member is also eligible for Chapter 33 benefits, the tuition waiver will be reduced by the percentage of the Chapter 33 benefits if that benefit is less than 100%.
Students taking courses as a visiting student are not eligible for the National Guard Tuition Waiver for their attendance at Rutgers.
Students receiving a National Guard Tuition Waiver are not eligible for the Scarlet Promise Grant (SPG).
The Commander’s Certificate must be completed and signed by the student and the student’s commanding officer. The form must then be uploaded to http://myvetcert.rutgers.edu.
