Loan Information for Rutgers Health Students
Loan for Disadvantaged Students (LDS)
As part of the Department of Health and Human Services Title VII Program, the LDS is available to medical and dental students from disadvantaged backgrounds that demonstrate “exceptional financial” need as defined by the Department of Health and Human Services. Interest is subsidized and is fixed at 5%, and parental income information is required.
Health Professions Student Loan (HPSL)
As part of the Department of Health and Human Services Title VII Program, the HPSL is available to Rutgers School of Dental Medicine students only who demonstrate financial need as defined by the federal government. Interest is subsidized and fixed at 5%, and parental income information is required. Entrance and exit counseling interviews are also required.
Primary Care Loan (PCL)
As part of the Department of Health and Human Services Title VII Program, the PCL is available to medical students who demonstrate financial need as defined by Department of Health and Human Services. Interest is subsidized and fixed at 5%, and entrance and exit counseling is required. Primary Health Care Residency is also required, and practice in Primary Health Care until date of full re–payment is mandatory.
